Would anyone care for a glass of wine ?

KurriKurri · 03/05/2012 20:59

Did someone mention wine?

The rock cakes are done now, - open your mouth and I'll frisbee one in Grin

I have to say DH is being a bit stingy with them, - DD and I want to eat them all, and he keeps banging on about saving some for his coffee morning blah blah blah. As DD says we need to taste them all to see if they are good enough for the coffee morning.

thegreylady · 03/05/2012 22:49

Orangina was one of the few drinks I enjoyed on chemo but all time fave was Roses Lime juice with ice and sparkling water.Ordinary water tasted sort of 'thick' and metallic.

MaryAnnSingleton · 04/05/2012 07:40

good morning - safe journey to gig (have emailed you a preview,if you're still here) and welcome back to smee
Am off to buy new inks which is always jolly, but I may be distracted by The White Stuff and Waitrose....

Gigondas · 04/05/2012 07:45

Seen it. It's amazing Grin and I love it.

Managed to sleep last night so feel bit brighter. Am no longer going to talk direct to onc - dh will as I torture myself afterwards with worry. This was not helped by ringing the homeopath last night (against my better judgment but wanted some help with my shock). Her description of my bastard disease as aggressive ( repeatedly used ) upset me. I know this is probably true but don't need to hear it.

Oh and my back is killing me which I think is muscular but of course may be related to it (onc didn't say it was).

Sorry Sad - will put some lippy on and be more cheery later.

Smee hope you are ok- how is everyone else?

topsyturner · 04/05/2012 07:56

Great big sloppy hugs to you this morning gig .
When are you off to French France ?

You deal with all this shite in whatever way works for you ! And if that means getting DH to deal with people , then so be it !
I still have my head firmly buried in the sand , I know what I need to know for my present course of treatment . But I never look beyond that .

I have a headache .
It might be self inflicted ...

topsyturner · 04/05/2012 08:10

Is smee back yet ? Hope she's ok .

Mas enjoy the shopping trip . I had to stock up on card and glitter pens as DD has decided that the world needs more pop up cards ...

topsyturner · 04/05/2012 08:29

Me again Grin

Just remembered a story a teacher friend of mine told me .
I was busy regaling her with tales of how my DD just loves doing anything craft related at school and was always on the craft table .
She burst out laughing and told me about the acronym that she had for the craft table .
C - cant
R - remember
A - a
F - fucking
T - thing

So now every time DD mentions crafting I can't help sniggering Grin

topsyturner · 04/05/2012 08:39

One more post !

Got a dear friend taking her DD into hospital this morning .
She has been under investigation for a possible brain tumour .
Consultant phoned her at 7pm last night and told her to bring DD in at 9am this morning .

Please could you all light your candles / send your positive vibes for this beautiful 8 year old girl ?

paddyclamp · 04/05/2012 08:54

Morning ladies...hope you don't mind me joining your thread

I have been diagnosed with what they're pretty sure is a low grade ductal carcinoma in situ which was picked up during a mammogram (i'm only 37 but have them as my mum died of breast cancer)...have to go back in a week today to have it removed ... had an area of microcalcifications removed and the DCIS was found in the margin

I'm ok about it as the doctor said it's the best type of breast cancer to get but i have this nagging worry what if it's not DCIS

Sorry to hear about your friend's DD Topsy...that certainly puts things into perspective :(

MaryAnnSingleton · 04/05/2012 09:16

arf @ CRAFT !
And lots of good thoughts for friend's dd topsy
Welcome paddy - sorry that you are going through this and having the anxiety of waiting and worrying- DCIS is probably the 'best' cancer to have and it sounds as though things have been caught early - even if it turns out to be an invasive carcinoma remember that it's all extremely treatable. If DCIS then the odds are extremely good -amber will know.

Morning Paddy
Am not a cancer expert I'm afraid (head firmly buried in sand approach)
But this us definitely the place to get answers and support .
Welcome and keep posting !

jchocchip · 04/05/2012 09:31

+ve vibes for topsy's friend's dd.

Hi Paddy, I hate waiting for results. Ifs and buts and maybes. Hang around here for a while. Treatment has improved lots over the years and as mas said its all extremely treatable.

Time for a Brew anyone?

SparkleRainbow · 04/05/2012 09:45

Paddy I am glad you found us. Catching it early as a really good thing. I am sorry you have the wait of a week though. Stick with us and we will do our best to calm your fears and distract you.

Topsy - What a shock for your friend. I will keep her DD in my thoughts today and light a candle later.

No school today as inservice training, so ds has got his d sis for company and he is thrilled. He wrote me a letter this morning which said thank you for being my mum, and taking such good care of me at hospital I really appreciate it. Yes I did indeed have a little cry when I read it.

SparkleRainbow · 04/05/2012 09:47

jchoc I would love a Brew thanks. No fbs as I onmly have 10 days before my rheumie appt and 14 days before MIL family reunion where I do not want to hear any fat comments Hmm I am counting on you ladies to keep me on the straight and narrow as far as fbs are concerned for the next 2 weeks.

Smee - thinking of you, hope you get discharged today.

jchocchip · 04/05/2012 09:55

passes Brew to sparkle. What a sweet note from your ds.

Gigondas · 04/05/2012 10:00

Want me to come round and smack your mil? And anyone else who needs it sparkle

Candles and vibes for your friends dd topsy

paddy as others have said three is a lot to be done but filling the gaps with the worst scenario whilst you wait on dx is normal.

Right off to France shortly. topsy you would love French tv as its full of orange men (in fact even the French president has a touch of Jaffa about him).

MaryAnnSingleton · 04/05/2012 10:15

oh sparkle -such a sweet thing for ds to do Smile

OP posts:
topsyturner · 04/05/2012 10:28

Sparkle your DS is just lovely !
Your MIL on the other hand ... Angry

Gig ooooh a Tiny Orange French Man ?
What's not to love ???
Are you online in French France ?
Or will we not hear from you again till you get back ?

I have a teeny tiny hangover headache
Need someone to feed me junk food sooth my poor brow ...

Gigondas · 04/05/2012 10:33

Aww your ds letter made me well up (but what doesn't)

Yes we have the net in French France and even a way of watching Brit tv. So I will doubtless be on line.

Nearly home and then will be off. We are driving so I wonder how much chocolate big gig can eat en route.

Sometimesiwonder · 04/05/2012 10:44

Am off for my weekend shortly so will see you all next week, but wanted to wish Gig a lovely weekend en France as we bilingual people like to say (and everyone else of course) and to see if Smee is about. Obviously not - hope you are OK, Smee.

Paddy - welcome. Sorry I won't be here for a few days, but my extendable arm is out to hold your hand while you wait. Don't get too far ahead of yourself with worries: treatment is just brilliant, and you will cope.

Topsy - I have lit my candle for a bit before I go. Eight years old Sad

Ned - I promise to try not to lower the tone in Dorset too much Grin If you see a short, chubby woman with very short dark hair, large earrings, a tall DH and a very chatty dd - that'll be me. Give us a wave.
