doctor who did scan said ds not down to have DMSA so she wasn't sure if consltnt would be doing one or not. will wait and see. apparently it just checks there's not scarring on the kidneys...?

Yes, its more common name is a renogram.
I had one, basically they make you drink loads of water then they give you intravenous radiocontrast adn intravenous diuretics.
From this they look at the blood flow to and through they kideys, it shows if there is any scarring (and if it appears permenant) and also tells you how well each kidney is functioning, and what percentage of 'cleaning' it doing in the body.
It still cannot tell 100% if there is reflux, but it would show more clearly evidence of a kinked urine passage(uriter)and the result of reflux (the scarring from infectons).
It a fairly high dose of radiation, the long term effect of it a absolutely minimal, but it is a consederation esp when he is so young.

HE may chose to wait and observe him.. if he does you should maybe conseider regular msu's, that is, if he's not on antibiotics.
