Advice please...im at work at the mo at my office desk and i suddenly came over very red in the face, my eyes watered like i was crying and went blood shot almost, it felt like my face was going to explode, and then very watery mouth and felt very dizzy & sick. Immediate stomach pains and rush to toilet. Nothin happened tho other than slightly loose poop, now still watery mouth, red blotchy face, and pins and needles in face, lips etc. What the hell was that? I have had this maybe 4 times over the last few years, but i have passed out previously or thrown up. The last time it happened i just got into bed layed down and as normal no earlier symptoms, then suddenly rush to loo and cause i felt so dizzy i layed on the floor, then beging retching. As i sit here now, the redness has gone almost and feel nearly back to normal. I am Hpyothryoid..but cant see that this has anything to do with it really. I am just thinking this is the storm/toxins in my blood to make me throw up perhaps? I have no idea why it suddenly starts and then 20 mins later im fine. Its scary, would like to know what it is and why it starts as sudden as it does with no warnings!

How awful.

Are you allergic to something?
What does your GP say?

aftereight · 27/04/2012 11:14

An allergic reaction? Can you get to GP now whilst you still have recent symptoms?

zara206y · 27/04/2012 11:18

Hi, Umm thats a good question? But the only thing im allergic too is Penecillin. I havent eaten anything weird this morning that i havent eaten before. BUT saying that i did open a packet of Walkers Ready Salted Crisps and noticed that they were torn so were slightly stale. I ate a couple and threw them in the bin, then about 5 mins this happened. Its terrible cause its happened before i know the signs...My face is the first to go by getting extremely red and pins and needles, my eyes then the wattery mouth. It honestly feels like my face is going to explode. I havent discussed it with the GP to be honest.

I simply cant go to the docs again...i have been so many times this week (thyroid blood tests & contraception disgussion), my boss will go nuts if i go again.
But with you both saying Allergic Reaction it would make sense with it being so immediate. I was thinkin more to it being toxins in the blood thats created to make your body reject something..then throw up! But the AReaction seems more plauseable!

There is something on the coating for crisps which keeps them separate in the bag which is a known allergen Can't remember its name though!

zara206y · 27/04/2012 11:42

But its never happened eating crisps before! I have just written a letter and im going to send the remainder back!

It does sound like an allergic reaction. You must go to your Dr to be checked. You dont want to end up with anaphylaxis. You might need to carry an epi pen. You need to get some allergy tests done. Are you ok with nuts? If you have a severe allergy you may have been exposed to someone eating them near you & it could have set off a reaction. Don't worry about bothering the Dr, you need to get it checked out.
