I have a rather complex problem and have been putting off major surgery for as long as i can.
Before i go ahead i wanted to see a private specialist and he is suppossed to be one of the best in his field.
Ive never gone private before and will continue with my treatment within the NHS after his consultation .
I just wondered how long the appointments usually are and what to expect compared to not going private. Obviously i hope not to have to wait hours but apart from that are we talking 10 mins instead of 5 or half an hour or what ?

Many thanks

I was in for 45 mins with my orthopeadic surgeon.

I've had an hour with my hand surgeons before - all my consultations have been very unhurried with plenty of time to talk about things

You could phone the consultants secretary to ask how long your appointment will be for, it will vary between doctors and specialties.

When i first saw my gynae (private) there was lots of history to go through, lots of time for me to cry and talk, and an examination, i was in there over an hour.

Also waiting time is usually nothing at our private hosp.

Good luck!

I've seen a few and my experience the grander ones (think bow tie and private consulting rooms) give the least time.
The ones working in a BUPA type hospital took more time although you often had to wait half an hour.

Normally more time would be allowed for an initial consultation, so anything up to an hour I would think.

I always go in with a list of questions!

Good luck.
