BLEEDING MOLLUSCUM?

My DD is 13 months old & hea had molluscum now for about 9 months.They started on her tummy and arms. The ones on her tummy eventually went very dry & red & then they went. The cluster she's got on her arms have been very "angry" looking for weeks now, but today, I got her up & found them to be bleeding heavily... Is this normal?

Yes it's normal IME. Some of the spots just seem to disappear, others come to a head and then burst. I usually put a plaster over ds1's when they get like this (i.e. when I see them getting inflamed and know they are about to burst) because it cushions them a bit and also to prevent infection (friend of mine's dd's spots became infected and she needed antibiotic cream).

We were given antibiotic cream for my sons when this happened mollymoomin.It really helped.
He had them for about a year and a half..and then they quite suddenly went.

Yes, not to worry, that can happen. I also covered my ds's and kept it very clean. If it looked a little infected I just diluted a little savlon in warm water and bathed the area with a bit of cotton wool. Antibiotic cream is also available on prescription, but his cleared up without the need for it, very shortly after becoming angry/infected.

Thanks everyone. Feel abit better now I know it's quite normal. I let it soak in the bath last night, then covered it with a dressing for bed. It's just such a big cluster, and right in the crease of her arm, so it must keep getting knocked.. probably why it's been there the longest. They look such a mess, don't they?

They do look horrid, but at this stage, it's nearing the end of it's existance, so the good news is it won't be there for much longer.

Anyone else had any experience?

dd2 had them when she was 3 and 4. They were quite unsightly but the never bleed. Shes had 10 years without them now.

ds has them - under one arm and down the side of his body (on the side where they are under his arm). They started off all pale, then went 'angry' looking and then had a massive blood eruption (so much so that when he woke up, I stripped him off in a mad panic thinking he had cut himself really badly!). Then they disappeared (so I think the blood thing is a sign that they are near the end).

Unfortunately, he has another one developing under his arm so no doubt we will go through the whole thing again.

Mine occasioanly bled, and looked really angry, but i dont remember them HURTING that much at all TBH, except when i went to Dr and he pricked each tiny dot with this stuff to make them go away... OMG that DID hurt!

A few friends kids have had these, and even one of my friends caught them too. They used 'Molluscum no more" from Forcesofnature.com. Quite expensive but I tell you what we were all shocked at how effectively and quickly it got rid of them. Not sure if they can be used if they are infected or bleeding. May have to check that first.

We've been keeping it covered so it doesn't get infected, now only to find out she's allergic to plasters! All her 'sore' area is all red & itchy..Putting savlon on it now.. wait & see.
