Hard lump of skin on toe

I have developed a round lump of hard skin on the inside of my little toe where it meets the next one, it doesn't hurt it's just extra thick skin, I've snipped it off with clippers but it grows back, it's rather flaky and I can pick and pull bits off it. I've been putting Sudocrem on it in the hopes it will make it go away but I really have no idea what it is?.

It's not a corn is it? I heard they hurt?.

Sounds like a corn to me. I get this on my middle toe and got some fab corn plasters that cushion and soften this skin.

It sounds like a callus to me, but a small corn-like one (if that makes sense!). If it doesn't hurt, don't stress. If it does hurt, go and see a podiatrist who will PAINLESSLY remove it. If it doesn't hurt but you just don't like the look of it/you want a diagnosis, then go see a podiatrist anyway. There are some things like silicone wedges that can stop the toes rubbing. Sometimes filing it and putting moisturiser on it can help. Don't use corn plasters - the ones with acid in them, the ones that just take the pressure off are fine - as they often cause problems.

BTW I'm a podiatrist but my disclaimer is that I can't diagnose things properly without seeing them!

Could it be my shoes causing it? I tend to wear the same trainers all the time had them about 2 years and this thing appeared a couple of months ago.

Almost certainly a soft corn. Is it white or is it darker that the surrounding skin? Does it itch or is it sore? Sorry for the questions but the more info I have the more I can help.

Just skin coloured, doesn't itch or anything, goes a bit red if I scratch the skin off thats all.

I've been sticking a plaster on it and sudacrem 3 times a day smeared all over the plaster and it seems to be softening the skin up now.

Oohh Vegimite can I ask you about a callus? I have one on the underside of my foot just under the little toe...and it kills!

Can I treat it myself without going to a Podiatrist? Would I use those circle corn plaster things? And has it developed because I am a fat cow slightly overweight lady and it is the pressure?

Thank you Smile
