My parents and Nan live in France and my Nan is 84. She is a bit under the weather with diarrhoea at the moment. She told my Mum that she had a lump in her groin and my mum felt it. I said on the phone this morning "how big is it? Like a big marble?".

My Mum replied, "like an Apple".

An apple? WTF? They are going to make her an appointment for next week. It sounds bad doesn't it Sad. Could it be something other than the dreaded you know what?

Not necessarily anything nasty. Could be a hernia. These often go down when pressed on, but they don't always. If it is strangulated and it is sore and she is vomiting ( even the diarrhoea may be a sign) then she should get it seen by a doctor TODAY because the sooner it is repaired, the less likely any bowel will had been damaged.
Hope that makes sense, but I'm in my phone.
Hope she's ok.

They won't take her today, she is too ill. My mum suggested a hernia, but I didn't think it could be one there. It does go- it moves.

I've just googled and it concurs with what you have said, token. I have just rang my Mum and they are going to call the Dr and see if he will do a home visit.

My mum seems to think now, after further investigation, that the 'lump' is in fact my nan's pubic bone. I am a bit Hmm about this but it is difficult to discuss physical matters over the phone with no visuals. My nan is thin now but in a healthy weight range (just). I'm struggling to comprehend how a lump in the groin can be a pubic bone, but my Mum assures me it is.

They are going to get her checked over when she is a bit better.
