Carbamazepine and alcohol advice

My auntie is 37 years old and has just been prescribed Carbamazepine as she has developed epilepsy. I cant remember if she is on 100mg twice a day or 200mg twice a day but it is definately no more than 400mg daily.
Can she still drink alcohol? If so, under what circumstances/any side effects/ dangers etc.
She is not a heavy drinker at all but likes to go out and have a few drinks occasionally and she has asked for my advice.

Its not always the medication that is the problem, it is the alcohol itself that can actually trigger seizures.
Tegratol is contraindicated in peopl who have liver probs, but this does not mean the occasional drinker.
Everybody reacts differently some people are fine others find they cannot drink at all
and I would suggest she has a talk with her neurologist

thanks, i will suggest this.
I think she is scared of having a drink but also wants to try to live a normal life as possible.
As i said, she is not a big drinker anyway, i suppose being told you cant is the worst thing!
