Like everyone else, I'd have to say that whatever the nurse saw, it's unlikely to be the pre-cancerous changes associated with abnormal cells. Like Twiglett, I once had a nurse tell me I had thrush when I knew it was normal egg-white fluid. Well - they do tell you to go mid-month...

The only thing I wanted to say, without worrying anyone, is that a lot can happen in four years. I went from perfectly fine to CIN2 / moderate dyskariosis in one year. Had a loop excision and everything has been fine since, although I have smears yearly.

if nothing showed on a swab then she saw nothing .. because you can't see cell changes with the naked eye .. so don't worry

hopefully you'll have the all clear with results

'Did everyone who had a colposcopy get a biopsy done at the same time? as this is what the procedure seems to be in the leaflet I have been given. '

I did! It's easier to do it at the same time than schedule another appointment.

They stain the cervix w/vinegar and if the practitioner sees something she'd like to send to patho she takes a biopsy.

I had a loop treatment as well! It's just done under local anaesthetic in the US - if you want GA, you have to pay for it! b/c it's not 'medically necessary' so your insurance won't pay.

It must be different here, but I was told I could not have either procedure done if having my period b/c the doctor couldn't visualise the cervix as well as possible, so I strung two Pill packets together to keep from getting one.

Just wondering...I got smear results back the other day and it says theres an inflammation and to come back in 6 months. All web sites say that the doc should give antibiotics to clear it up, but I havent got any, and nothing in the letter indicates there will be any coming my way. Should I call and ask for some, or am I just being panicky? Theres a history of cancer in my family.
