My ds has just ben diagnosed with reflux-he was given gaviscon which seems to make things better for a couple of days but now seems to be ineffective. I have heard alot about cranio osteopathy in the treament of reflux but dont know anyone that has tried this.........is anyone albe to give me a brief insight as to whether it helped their child.

Mmmmmm......

Took DD to one when about 8 weeks constantly crying, screaming not sleeping etc etc. Found it all a bit bemusing really ! I expected her to manipulate her head if you know what I mean, was a bit suprised when she started stretching her body in all different directions and finding areas of "stress". To be fair I took her back 4 or 5 times as advised, ( daren't not really she was a bit persuasive )and dd loved it especially when being swung side to side from under her arms ! DH called it witch doctoring especially when she suggested wrapping wet wool and cotton around her for something ! That said dd did improve by 3-4 months not sure if it was coincidental. Its certainly worth a go I'm trying homeopathy with ds who is 5 months for his constant colds so we shall see. by the way my neighbor swears by cranial osteopathy for his sons ear infections and his back troubles. Not sure if this waffle helps but at least it might give you an idea what to expect

Find a good practitioner--there are alot of threads on this. I believe in it very much and think it will help. Check archived messages.

lellybel.. that sounds like a regular osteopath, not just cranial.

either are fab and i swear by them. my cranial osteopath stopped my monthly migraines for over 2 years.
my regular osteopath sorted ds out when he was born, and made my horrible back better!

no thought it was crap im afraid! took my ds once when he 11months after constant nagging from exes mother, wish i hadnt bothered, the woman was a hippy and i didnt see any certificates anywhere. she was nice enough, but ds screamed and screamed and screamed........didnt have a clue wot the woman was talking about and she said it was a difficult age because they are so aware between 1 and 2, mmmmm.

she did feel his head, back etc but the screaming was toooo much so i told her to stop, not a very nice experience
