Hi notasheep!

I know just how you feel. I had ovarian cysts with both my boy pregnancies. I was in terrible pain with the first one. On discovery of the cyst that was about 2cm in diameter the doctor did continuos ultrasounds to moniter it. However, I was really lucky that by the time I was 25 - 30 wks pregnant with both they had vanished. I was told there was a possibility that if the cyst was still there and blocking the birth canal when it came time that I may have to have a cesaerean(cant spell it!) I asked around too and couldnt find anyone who had surgery. Sorry if I wasnt much help. Just wanted to let you know someone is listening!

I had one before I was pregnant, they drained it twice and it kept coming back, then had an operation to remove it.

I dont know if pregnancy causes it. But I have only ever had problems with cysts when I have been pregnant and have read about cysts and blocking the birth canal in quite a few pregnancy books. Not sure, ask at the ultrasound.

i was in loads of pain with dd, all to one side. it was so bad that i could hardly walk. on the scan they found enlarged ovary probably due to a cyst and soon after the scan the pain disappeared. by the next scan my ovary was normal again. i get pains on my side (always the left) but after a few weeks they go again (before i get a scan). the doctor told me that most cysts just come and go by themselves but it is very very painful.

I had an ovarian cyst. I didn't feel anything, but i just had a 'feeling' something wasn't right and went to see my GP as i was due to go on a 2 month holiday with my galfriends.
GP arranged for a scan at hospital and eventho it was benign i had to have it removed asap, so had to cancel my holiday .. i was devasted i couldn't go on the holiday and the cyst part didn't sink in till later.
cyst was size of a blown up balloon, was terrible after op .. so much pain, morphine .. and the stitches, actually staples, going across a 9 inch cut .. and the bruising from my ribs down to my thighs i was black, blue, purple with dots and everything! Took me weeks to recover .. and my best friends were away on hols

notasheep · 07/02/2006 20:38

OMG-thats horrendous.

Whatever this pain is,just hope i get to the bottom of it asap

Hi notasheep
Just wanted to say good luck with the scan, I dont know what day it is there as I am in Australia and a bit der from lack of sleep. Just stay positive and if it is a cyst know that something can be done and take it easy.

hi discovered a cyst in my last pregnancy. went on to have a c-section to deliver baby and remove cyst because it was continuing to grow and cause pain, also started to bleed inside the cyst towards the end of pregnancy.
turns out cyst wasnt on my ovary but on the fallopian tube which they removed aswell.
no long lasting after effects and 19 months on am feeling fine

notasheep, would like to wish you all the best
For my first hospital appt i left my friends wedding (was bridesmaid) and waited for hours to be told they were too busy, go home and it will be rebooked! I was in tears .. anyway
I was in hospital for a week and there was another woman, 21 yrs, who was in a lot of pain and crying a lot .. and her cyst was only size of a grape. When i was discharged i bought her a box of chocs
Good luck!

joec · 09/02/2006 10:59

in the end cyst was about the size of a large watermelon !!!!!
pain was quite bad and i can undestand why !!!

mythumbelinas · 09/02/2006 11:24

oohh .. so you had your huge cyst out the same time as the birth .. you must have been huge!!
I wasn't pregnant, but i looked it .. it was from my ovary, so that was squished and had to be removed. I was told b4 i went into theatre they were going to cut me like an upsidedown T, but in the end i got away with cut v similar to a c section. I've recovered since to give birth to 2 dd's by natural delivery
