Are they safe? I had them, thought they were good for baby too, but friend says no, not allowed. Please let me be right?

Apparently they are safe and not only are they safe but they help to stregthen your immune system and improve the antibody quality of your breast milk!
Cant find the article but found info on a website that took info from a paper inthe lancet. When you due?

chapsmum · 06/02/2006 22:24

Oh and if you continue to probiotics whilst bfeeding there is evidence to suggest that it reduces the likelyhood of your child being atopic.

beansprout · 06/02/2006 22:25

Sorry, dur, but what is atopic?

Flossam · 06/02/2006 22:26

Oh I'm not. Just did this for the same reasons as you suggest. My friend said the 'live' bacteria was bad for baby, while pregnant. She is usually wrong

all types of yoghurt including ones with bio/live bacteria are fine when you are PG (remember looking this up on the FSA website when PG!!)

chapsmum · 06/02/2006 22:31

Beansprout, Atopic babies are likely likely to develop asthma eczema adn food allegies.

Live bacteria...bad for baby? I suppose its a scary thought, but I'm sure you were around bacteria that was allot worse for you in work?!

Flossam · 06/02/2006 22:34

I stay chilled about that too. We rarely have anything terrible. I take DS in now he's bigger.

We have all those things in our family, DS so far only has excema, and that only occurred 3 months ago, when he was a year. was really dissapointed.

Dont feel bad, Im friend with 4 other mums who had babes on the same day. all exclusively b fead till 6 months. Only one of them likely candiates to ba atopic and they all have exzema. There is so much pollution in the environment....
But yeah, I know that dissapointment the chap has it behind his knees
I got exposed to every disease under the sun when prg, was v v paranoid!!

chapsmum · 06/02/2006 22:40

excema, god I need to learn how to spell!

meysey · 07/02/2006 23:18

use live yoghurt not actimel - I read the label properly recently and it is full of dodgy artificial sweeteners
