Just called ooh they are ringing back.

I thought it was indigestion but that doesn't go on all night does it?
It's like I can't fully extend my breath if that makes sense. I have the odd cigarette and I'm thinking all sorts :(

I feel really panicky I need someone to tell me it's ok...

Where's the pain? One side? Middle? Back?

Maybe call NHS direct instead if you don't hear soon.

BaldricksTurnip · 07/04/2012 06:36

Hiya. I had a horrible pain like that once, after a terrible d&v virus. Was pg at the time so went in to panic mode. Eventually took some paracetamol and after lying awake all night not being able to breathe in deeply as my chest hurt too much, went blissfully to sleep. When I woke up, the pain was gone. I can only think that I pulled a muscle or something went in to spasm as the result of being sick so many times. Just letting you know that chest pain isn't always something terrible, although obviously always best to get it checked out if you are worried.

Heyyyho · 07/04/2012 06:41

Thank you the pain is one side very sharp. Ooh still it called back.
I just hope I'm ok. I am due to go on holiday tomorrow ( uk break) I just want to be seen before then.

I had a terrible chest pain, like you are describing. Was convinced it was a heart attack or blood clot. Turned out to be a pulled muscle Blush

With any chest related pain it is best to defer to medical types, even if just for reassurance.

Hope all is ok

Sounds a bit like when I had pleurisy (it's an infection of the lining of the lungs). Incredibly painful when you breathe and a bit scary too. I think you usually feel like you have a nasty cold with it though.

kahlua4me · 07/04/2012 07:55

I had a sharp pain like that one night and also thought I would die from it. It felt like there was a band tightening right around my chest.
Anyway, it turned out it was a gall bladder attack.
Apparently the symptoms can be similar.
Hope you are okay soon

Iggly · 07/04/2012 08:09

Yes I had pleurisy a few times - usually occurs with a virus like a flu. I only got relief from ibuprofen. Felt awful.
Let us know what the docs say.

PeachyPossum · 07/04/2012 08:48

I hope you are OK OP x

crazyday · 07/04/2012 08:53

Poor you. I also had what you are describing. Mine was, like someone up thread has said, a pulled muscle. Does it hurt when you try and lift something on that side? Mine took ages (10+ days) to feel even slightly better. You have my sympathy.

gingeroots · 07/04/2012 10:13

Aspirin under the tongue won't hurt and is what I was advised by NHS direct while waiting for ambulance .
I also thought heart attack ,but fortunately wasn't .

Heyyyho · 07/04/2012 19:06

Hi guys.

I went to ooh and got checked over. BP fine he also checked my lungs and said clear no infection, however he then said be thought my lung lining was inflamed but was surprised I had no cold flu symptoms.

Anyway he said ibuprofen ( is that neurofen ?) and to rest if it gets worse to go back.

Still really shaky but at least I am "ok". Still a bit mistifying. I just get really worried about stuff like this. Dh is an older dad and all I could think of is I don't want to die - pathetic really but I suffer from anxiety.

Thanks for your thoughts x

Glad you're ok OP :)

Iggly · 08/04/2012 03:13

When I had it I sometimes had a fever but only a couple of times felt like I had a cold/flu. You can get cheap generic ibuprofen -
Works just as well!

Julialyne · 08/04/2012 06:57

My husband had this once. No cold or flu. He had bad chest pain on breathing in & out. We went to hospital & they saw him straight away. They said it was the lining of the lungs rubbing together & gave him strong painkillers. Hope you are feeling better today.
