Does anyone else have a home sats monitor?

I bought one of eBay after my recent ill Heath and dts pneumonia and viral asthma, it's the same price as a digital thermometer and very handy, but do feel like a slightly paranoid mother :)

Yes I have for much the same reason!
I was struggling to talk and walk and getting worse over a period of weeks. Then on my umpteenth visit to the GP (by then too ill to walk) GP checked sats (first time ever checked) and sent me straight to hospital where I stayed for fortnight on O2. So now I have my own and I find it more useful than my PF as an indicator of when to go to GP/ A&E. I felt rather embarrised too until I picked up Dhs pneumonia too (his sats dropped alarmingly and suddenly)- he had been seen by the gp and treated for rhinitis so it served as a useful double check that yes I did need to take dh to hospital on Christmas day. I am sure if I had chesty babies to care for it would be even more essential!
I don't think it is paranoid at all!

Thanks Magso, once again Sats monitor came in very usefully on Friday with dt2 dropping through the day, he's been in hospital on oxygen since with nasty chest infection.

I have one and so does Netto. They are great fun. Oh and Magso has one too - except she and I have both misplaced ours, they are too small.

magso · 01/04/2012 10:59

Oh largeglass your poor dt2! Hope he picks up soon. In your family I should think it is essential!
Giraffe I found mine hiding under the bed- but yours hadn't joined it!

I am on a cleaning spree so I shall hopefully find it!

ggirltwin2pinot · 01/04/2012 11:10

i thought they were over £100 !

giraffesCantDonateBoneMarrow · 01/04/2012 11:28

mine was £20 i think

magso · 04/04/2012 10:02

I thought mine was a good price but it was nearer £50 in a sale - but three years ago. Drs do seem surprised that I have one ( the hospital ones are very expensive). I do not understand why sat monitors are not used more by those who are at times oxygen dependent, especially at £20! As you say a good thermometer costs more than that.

I got mine off ebay.
