Hypothyroid with a strange sore throat.

I've had a sore throat for a week now. Hurts when I swallow, but not in the usual back of throat place, it's deeper down. My tonsils look fine too.

Have noticed tonight that it also hurts in a strained way when I flex the back of my tongue or yawn and that my neck could be a little lumpier than normal in the adam's apple area. I say could be because I don't want my imagination running riot.

Any of this sound familiar to anyone?

Could be a goitre (lump on the thyroid), dont let imagination run riot I had my thyroid removed on weds as the lumps were pressing on my airway and making it difficult to swallow etc but they were not untoward, go and see your gp and get it checked, they can do an ultrasound etc if they feel any lumps

All went well thanks, am sore and tired, but at least the lump has now gone and i am at home recuperating, thank goodness as no phone or internet signal in hospital!

I'm hypothyroid and had a weird ongoing low down sore throat/difficult to swallow thing for ages about six months ago. Went to GP who felt my neck and said thyroid wasn't enlarged but it has gone since my throxine dose was increased. Might be worth getting your GP to feel your neck and check your TSH/T4 levels?
