Is there a connection between coming from a family of non-identical twins and period pain?

Let me explain: on monday, I experienced pain in the abdominal area that -yes, I know pain is subjective- I'd class as 7/10. Intense, made me cry but not unbearable. On thursday, my period arrived 4 days earlier than normal.
Last night (thursday night) I simply could not sleep as the abdominal pain was so bad- this time an 8/10.
Could this be a symptom of 2 eggs being released or something?

I'm in my early 30's.

Or is it just a particularly bad period? Today I am exhausted but the pain is now very mild but my period is heavy.

I come from a family of non-identical twins (and gernal v high level of fecundity) and we all have v bad periods.

I think that my family just have loads and loads of hormones but their is no study I am aware of proving this.

Thanks for that, springchickennugget, I think there might be a connection. IIRC, non-identical twins are two eggs and two sperm.

yes. I think the high level of fecundity (my mum and aunts all claim to have gotten pregnant in the first cycle of trying for each of their 3 or 4 children) suggests that we produce A LOT of eggs.

Also, i don't have heavy periods, just painful suggesting hormones rathre than uterus beign the problem iyswim.

The pain won't be ovulation pain, though - ovulation happens approx 12-14 days before your period arrives, not 4 days.

True.

i'm not suggesting it is ovulation pain. Just being a person who has loads of hormones gives you crappo periods.
