have just done it, tried to pick up DD from the floor outside (she is 3) and got massive pain in my back, now feel like I can't move much so am sitting very still.

Any advice???

heat to the bit that hurts

could try laying flat and gently stretching if it was like a twinge/muscle spasm

be careful how you pick up the kids!!!

Warm bath, paracetamol and either ibuprofen or voltarol gel. That's assuming it's a muscular injury. If it is, no sudden movements (as if it will let you) but keep moving gently, rather than giving it chance to freeze.

And in future, lift from your knees - assuming they're not knackered like mine!

DH will be home at 5.00ish so he will be around to help out from then onwards.

I think it may be pretty bad as it hurts when I walk.

Have you tried getting dh to rub in some deep heat or tiger balm?

CatsSleepAnywhere · 21/03/2012 21:32

Will have to see if we have some. He has bought me some Radox for the bath so will try that tomorrow, I don't think I could even get in the bath tonight.

Don't get in the bath unless he is around and able to lift you out again. When I "had my fall" I found a really hot shower aimed on the aches really helped. It will depend if you have hurt a muscle or a disk though.

That was me 12 days ago - I'm just about back to normal now, but it was very uncomfortable for 4-5 days. I agree with liveinazoo heat helped me with the pain.
