Hand, foot & mouth - how long do the bumps take to go?

HF&M has done the rounds at school and in our house. DD (1.9) got it first, only a few bumps on her legs and a slight temperature. All clear after a couple of days. I got it next, just a few bumps on my hand. These took about three weeks to go. DS seems to have got it much worse: no temperature or any nasty symptoms, but bumps on his neck, arm pit, groin and across the back of his tongue. They've been there for nearly six weeks now without showing any signs of going. But otherwise he's completely fine, which is why I haven't taken him to the drs (and I don't think they can do anything for the virus anyway??).

Anyone got any thoughts on how long before the bumps really should be gone?

Bump. Excuse the pun

Ds had the blisters for about a week. they scabbed over after 3 days. although there are several different viruses that cause hf&m six weeks is a long time. I would take him to the gp encased its something else.
