Homeopathy for asthma - does it work?

and can anyone spell asthma?

We think dd2 has it (going to docs for tests next week).

My friend swears on homeopathy, but she is more openminded than my gruff northern self.

Views please.

my ds has asthma,he's on becotide and ventolin.

Before we went to the homeopath he got very wheezy(enough to need nebulizer,steroids and trips to a&e)every time he got a cold.

Since he's been on Lobelia he hasn't had to use the ventolin when he's had a cold.Don't know what works the becotide or the lobelia,too scared to take him off the becotide yet.Whatever he's much better ....it hasn't done any harm.

With asthma I would recommend traditional medicine first,with homeopathy as a secondary treatment.It's too serious a problem not to have the ventolin and steroids there if you need them.

My DD has asthma - she is 2.9 yrs old and has had since she was one.

I certainly believe that use of things like, for eg olbas oil etc when they have colds helps to open airways.

I certainly think it can assist with the condition but i wouldnt for a minute believe that i could rely on it totally. I think general lifestyle choices also make a difference - city living, dusty environments/lots of chemical cleaners, foods with lots of additives can certainly make it worse (simply because there are more things to develop an allergic reaction to with these things). But thats just my laymans view on it

As it happens, i have been to the docs today to get some more salbutimol and prednisalone (steroids) for DD as she is suffering quite badly atm.

Agree with you there gg - too many people die from asthma attacks to not use 'traditional' medication first. (My DD uses becotide too - it does make a difference imo).

thanks, she hasn't been diagnosed yet but dh is astmatic and she has been VERY wheezy lately and the doc isn't sure if it is and after affect of her cough or not.

no, they dont like to jump too hastily to that conclusion unless there has been quite a severe incident.

DD was ambulanced to hospital - twice - with breathing difficulties before they would pinpoint asthma. They kept putting it down to severe chest infections. (despite knowing she had eczma and cows milk protein allergies).
