I am 37 and I found a lump in December but doctor said it was small and mobile so it was up to me, he was happy to just wait and see. It still hasn't disappeared so I was referred to the breast clinic and they saw me last Monday. I had an ultrasound and then a fine needle biopsy. Today I went back and they said that the ultrasound showed results "consistent with a fibroadenoma (U2)" but that not sufficient cells were taken by the biopsy. She then did a core needle biopsy. I am trying not to worry but I still am. If it is a benign fibroadenoma, why are they still doing more tests?

I imagine they just want to confirm that it's a fibroadenoma - to be absolutely sure. It's a bugger having to wait again though. Try not to get too anxious-easy to say of course.

Try not to worry, difficult i know! but i had to have a core needle biopsy done on my lump even though they were certain it was due to infection ( thankfully it was).

Take care

Thanks. I was so convinced that it was a fibroadenoma that I am shocked that there is a possibility that it isn't. i just thought that they would react like the GP and say not a problem, go home.

Hi, try not to worry, the doctors have to rule out anything serious. I had one of My lymph nodes out last year, they did a needle biopsy, which came back negative and it was normal, but they still wanted to take the node out and check for sure it wasn't cancer, eventhough they were convinced it wasn't cancer.
