It seems that there is probably rather a lot of us who are impatiently waiting to see consultants, have tests or waiting for surgery. So a thread for you to vent in or post your 'hooray's'

me. Am waiting to see my cardiologist. been a bit of a catalogue of delays and getting lost in the system. I have a wonderfully supportive gp who has just calmed me down after me losing the plot a bit when I found I wasnt on the appt system.

How about you?

Well, you were sufficiently daft not to go to A&E, so you might as well be daft enough for church tomorrow... but maybe best to postpone consideration of that for another 12 hours.

Everyone is home. DD announced 'I drawed a vewwy nice picture of a s[h]eep but I decided not to brought it home for you'...

BackPackBackPack · 31/03/2012 17:49

Hi hope everyone is doing ok.

Sorry to hear that Rochelle.

I'm doing really good today the twisting has stopped and I've actually not had any painkillers today :)

DD has came out with Chicken Pocks so she is very miserbale and itchy. I've never had them before so I most likely catch them.

Hope you DS is ok LGoR.

fengirl1 · 31/03/2012 18:00

Backpack - have come out of lurkerhood to say bicarbonate of soda in the bath (2-3 tbsp) will help stop itching, as will piriton.

ohyouBadBadkitten · 31/03/2012 18:05

Yay for no pain backpack. Boo to the pox. If you phone out of hours they might be able to give you a jab to stop you getting it temporarily. I think the circs. probably warrant it.

Aww ant not getting the sheep pic BM.

... or alternatively, you could join the outing to A&E (which of course kitten and I both backed out of) and make it a little trio.

Seriously though... my goodness, chicken pox on top of everything. Really hope you can avoid it, and that DD gets through it ASAP.

Madsometimes · 31/03/2012 20:04

Hi Backpack, I'm really glad that you have been pain free, and I hope that finally you may have had a successful op. I'm sorry your dd has chicken pox. It is possible to have chicken pox really mildly as a child, so you may have had it without your parents realising. My dd1 only had about four spots, and three of those were on her scalp. Dd2 was covered, poor thing. The incubation period is 2-3 weeks, and I think your GP may well give you antivirals, just because you have been through it lately.

Today, I went swimming for the first time since my op. I didn't really swim, more moved about in the water. It was nice, but I did feel a little panicky at one point. It's hard to explain why, but I convinced myself that moving my left arm would dislodge my internal pacing wires. I was being completely ridiculous Blush.

LargeGlassofRed · 01/04/2012 07:38

Glad your feeling better badkitten sorry you ve been feeling rough too breastmilk
Still in hospital with DT2 he picked up yesterday afternoon but on oxygen all night, still on it now and sats only 89, waiting for doctor to come.
So shattered.

BreastmilkDoesAFabLatte · 01/04/2012 09:11

You must be shattered. Must have been a long night...

ohyouBadBadkitten · 01/04/2012 09:45

lGR, is there anyway you can get home for a bit of sleep and let someone else watch over for a bit once the doc has come? You do need to try and take care of yourself, if you collapse then things will be even worse.

OP posts:
Madsometimes · 01/04/2012 11:54

Thinking of you, Largeglass. It would be ideal if someone could come and take over being with your dt2, even if it is just for a few hours. Then you could pop home, freshen up and have some decent food. My memory of children's wards is that parents only get food if they are bf or have diabetes. If you don't fit into those categories you need to choose between staying with your child but not eating or leaving your child on their own and going to the canteen to buy food.

LargeGlassofRed · 01/04/2012 13:21

Thanks all have come home with the dt2, going to go for asleep when he drops off, although I have a horrible feeling he's got the same bug as dt 2 as breathing very fast and pale! Once he's dropped off will check his sats, arrgh I need sleep.

LargeGlassofRed · 01/04/2012 13:22

Sorry I ment home with dt1 dp at the hospital with dt2

LargeGlassofRed · 01/04/2012 13:28

He's asleep respirations 42 sats 91! Argghhh what now?

ohyouBadBadkitten · 01/04/2012 13:43

I'd phone the ward that dt2 is on and say that you believe that dt1 has the same bug and seems pretty unwell. They will be able to guide you. {{{ hugs}}}

LargeGlassofRed · 01/04/2012 13:51

Good idea, Just text Dp and asked him to ask the nurse, I suspect I'll have to take him to out hours gp.

Madsometimes · 01/04/2012 14:04

You poor thing. It doesn't sound like you are going to get your much needed sleep. You will find the strength you need though, because people do. I hope that you get dt1 seen without being passed from pillar to post.

BreastmilkDoesAFabLatte · 01/04/2012 14:37

I'd hope you could get him seen on the ward alongside DT1. Really hoping the rest of you don't get the bug as well...

LargeGlassofRed · 01/04/2012 16:46

Good news dt1 better and had a long sleep off oxygen so may be coming out, dt2 just seen by out of hours sats were 95 so he's happy just to let us keep an eye on him at the moment, may be the start of what dt2 has. So keeping everything crossed were home tonight just waiting for doctors to review dt2

BreastmilkDoesAFabLatte · 01/04/2012 16:56

Sounds encouraging. Really hope that DT2 continues to improve, too. Hugs to you all...

BreastmilkDoesAFabLatte · 01/04/2012 16:59

Can I share a little milestone?

Today I managed to transfer DS from one arm to the other Smile, which means I can now breastfeed without needing someone hovering nearby to help...

ohyouBadBadkitten · 01/04/2012 17:24

That does sound cautiously good news LGR. I hope that these are good signs. Are you managing to eat?

That is a brilliant milestone BM. That will make life easier, people can go out without you ending up all lopsided!

OP posts:
BreastmilkDoesAFabLatte · 01/04/2012 18:03

I'm slightly lopsided already... but nevermind that. Two children on one boob... at least my body can do something right Grin

How is everyone today?
dh has just left, he is away til the early hours of thursday. eep. Normally its not a problem, though I do always miss him, but I really am housebound now. On the plus side I do get more of a chance of a better nights sleep.
dd shall have to become my unwilling slave once she is out of bed.

BreastmilkDoesAFabLatte · 02/04/2012 09:41

Morning all. How is everyone?

Today is my first full day at home on my own after the surgery: DH is at work and the kids are at the CM.

I'm so nervous...
