I have a strange painful skin sensation on my right upper thigh and lower back on my right side. It's an odd pain- like a very intense version of the achey skin feeling that you can get before coming down with a nasty bug.

It's been there all day. I've googled (I know, I know) and it sounds like shingles. I don't have a rash though.

I do feel really tired but life has been very busy recently and so I hoped that would account for feeling wiped out.

I am desperately hoping that this is nothing and will go away on its own. It's a really bad time for me to be ill.

Not sure if it is relevant but I also have thrush Blush. I took a tablet for this last night but it's not helped as yet.

Any Mumsnet wisdom would be very much appreciated.

If it is shingles l-lysine really helps reduce symptons. also you can put st. John Wort oil on the rash.

Get thee to the docs. Taking anti-virals within 24hrs of onset will reduce your chance of long lasting complications if it is shingles. (My dad still has pain more than 18 months on after his bout).

Thank you. I will look into your suggestions Fidelma.

Milk, I think I will try to get docs appointment this morning. I think it's a bit less sore than last night and so I am wary of wasting their time. Then again I can't see what else it could be......

my mother still in much pain 10 years after shingles .

You can have shingles without the rash. My aunty had them but didn't get the rash. I've had them twice and still get pain and itching where they were, if you had been very stressed and tired it can cause them. Definitely try to get the anti virals.
