Lump on areola - would you got to GP?

Small hard round lump on edge of areola. Have little milky spots there all the time but this one is about size of small pea and totally hard.

Have already been seen at breast clinic three times in the past over three different types of lumps (all benign). Mum had breast cancer, as did her mum (my mum OK now, her mum died from it) so as soon as I go to GPs they will refer me to clinic.

Really don't want the fuss. Is it just nothing? Would you bother going or is this quite common? And do GPs ever do biopsies so I can do without the hospital trip.

Would appreciate someone elses POV as not something I'm prepared to talk to mum about just yet, and feel I have lost all perspective over issues like this.

I think you probably know the answer already dont you. Please go to the GP and get referred.

Some breast units will give you your results on the same day, so although you will have a hospital trip, at least you wouldnt be left in limbo. All the best, and get yourself to the GP.

Sometimes they've been able to do same day. Last time they had to punch out a chunk of tissue with this awful hole punch piece of equipment and then I went back for an ultrasound. Just dreading telling my Mum again - its all getting to be a bit of a to-do and I feel like such a numpty every year or so saying 'oh look I've found something else wrong with my boobs'.

I would definitely go to the GP - you'll fret otherwise, and yes you might well be referred to breast unit again but if it's anything worrying then it'll be treated very swiftly, which is important. Do feel free to pop over to the tamoxifen thread if you would like some hand holding - we've all been through it Smile

Thanks for the support. I'm sure its just a plugged up duct. But why oh why do my boobs have to be sooo lumpy and bumpy when all health pro's are already on red-alert for me anyway. Oh well - resigning myself to whipping them out for yet another dr.
