Baby just vomited blood on me, how alarmed should I be?

8 mo DS just posseted on my shoulder and it had blood in it. He did bite me during bfing earlier and drew blood but was a miniscule graze and looks fine now. DH thinks he's fine because he seems cheerful etc. Advice appreciated.

I would phone nhs direct, just to be sure, and they will be able to tell you. The number should be in the baby;s red book,

This happened to me once. They told me it was probably my blood and if he wasn't otherwise unhappy, then not to worry. The sucking action can draw out more blood than you would expect.

I would phone NHS direct as well to be on the safe side. When I was a baby, I vomited blood because I had bitten boob!

Thanks all - hadn't occurred to me that v strong suction could get quite a lot of blood out of even a very small scrape He's now asleep and seems fine :)

has he had any medication? nurophen can cause stomach bleeds, happened to my dd first and only time she had nurophen.

No medication, though will bear that in mind if we ever give him ibuprofen. I've already phoned NHS Direct in a flap when he was teeny because he was pooing blood (nothing to worry about, apparently!).

You know I would be taking him to the doctors - poo in his blood and now vomiting blood. It's probably nothing to worry about but probably best to gt it checked
