My sister has a serious problem with her pregnancy. Please look at this thread
please read this and then return here .

If anyone has any medical advice, or could recommend any clinics/hospitals/ specialists etc etc that may be able to help/give advice etc. I would really appreciate it.

I can't help but I'll bump for you.

mummytosteven · 31/01/2006 18:38

only place I can think of would be Kings Foetal Medicine Centre in London. I think Blu mentioned there on the other thread.

chicagomum · 31/01/2006 18:39

mummytosteven thanks I've just used blu's post to send her another email.

CM, scans are not infalible, i was told with ds2 at my 20 week scan that he appeared to only have 3 heart chambers, had to wait an agonising week before a further scan confirmed he was fine, but i went to hell and back in that week.
i was born with congenitally malformed and damaged kidneys, yet due to the abscense of scans in those days, i was 21 before i found out.
I will keep my fingers and toes crossed for your sisters results.

has she had a detailed scan to look at the thickness of fat on the babys neck??
This csn give an instant indicator of downs
Also, I think this has been mentioned befor, It is very difficult to tell from ultrasound just what the damage is, a cyst is very difficult to distiguish, third kidneys have been mistaken for cysts and these can be completely benign.
Have you had any more news/details??

I'm completely useless with this too. Afraid the best thing that can be done is to wait and see what the results say IMO. I do know the hospitals in Bristol though, which one is she under?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 31/01/2006 20:12

Am just trying to think back - isnt it calcium deposits in kidneys etc that indicate Downs?

chicagomum · 31/01/2006 20:17

Not sure , last time she was at southmeads with (her) dd
