Request for remedies for mega sore throat

Had a sore throat now for two weeks and not only is it getting on my nerves, it is very painful.

Does anyone know of any natural remedies to get rid of sore throat??

I am breastfeeding my DD so limited in the medication that I can take. Tablets the doctor suggested just numbed my throat and tongue for a while until the affect wore off. So far I have tried gargling with salt, black pepper powder and cider vinegar. I have drank honey and lemon, together and separately. The pain subsides for a while and then returns along with a annoying dry cough.

Thank you!!

Sage is a natural anaesthetic and really takes away the pain. Pour boiling on leaves and leave to cool- no need t

No need to strain, just top and sip all day until the flavour goes. Also gargle with soluble aspirin and or tcp. Honey water is also good to sip. I never find lemon helps and it really stings! Hope you feel better soon!

Root ginger is good for fighting stuff like throats. Juice it, or make an infusion and add manuka honey which has amazing anti bacterial properties. I suck a teaspoon of manuka honey for a dry throat.

Gargle with Oraldene. Or hot lemon and Manuka Honey. Or just eat Manuka honey, a couple of teaspoons a day will really help to shift it.

Sorry - I didn't see weevil had already recommended Manuka!

Crush a load of garlic up into a paste. Smear on the bottom of the soles of your feet. Go to bed with as many pairs of socks as possible.

In the morning, the room might pong a bit, and your breath will smell of garlic, but your sore throat will be gone.

If it persists do go to the dr's.

Agree with lil - gargle with some diluted TCP, regularly. You don't swallow it, so should be fine whilst breastfeeding, and it really does help.

If you are allowed paracetamol (are you?) then gargling with soluble paracetamol is also good. Have never tried soluble aspirin.

TCP is my go-to thing for anything like this.

birds you're right. I seem to be on an ignorant campaign to derail breastfeeding; my other top tip used to be cabbage leaves for engourgement... it also reduces supply.

Please ignore me. Blush

Cabbage leaves are great, but apparently reduce supply. yy about double checking us old wives' advice though!
