SMEARS - I bloody hate them

Just been for my 3 yearly routine smear test this morning. Even after having two children by vaginal delivery, it never gets anyless embarassing or uncomfortable.

Last time I went I found it very uncomfortable and ended up bleeding slightly afterwards.
This morning it REALLY hurt and I have bled quite badly. Nurse had to give me a pad to wear home. (sorry if TMI).

I've been told that the results may come back inconclusive as the blood may cover the relevant cells taken. So I may need to go back for another. Great!

I hate smears too. The only thing I can say is that was a lot easier and less unpleasant post giving birth. I felt like I'd been raped after my first one in 1996.

I apparently had cervical erosion in 1999 and the nurses/doctors tried to put the fear of god into me about it. It is not serious and has obviously gone away as it was not mentioned when I had my smear in 2005 (I missed the 2002 one because I was pregnant, refused to have it done in 2003 because I'd had an episiotomy and somehow just forgot in 2004) and I was not recalled after the 2005 one. I think childbirth can make it go away. I think there is a higher risk of cervical cancer but the sensible thing, instead of trying to scare people and threaten nasty things like cauterisation would be to have more frequent smear tests (so do as I say in this case not as I did!).

My 9 weeks postpartum cervix is still sore as hell and eroded badly.

I think I'm going to have to wait on the smear until next month if not later. Erosion can skew the results as well and I do NOT want to be referred for colpo w/a sore cervix.
