My period is 11 days late. I'm not pg. Could I be menopausal at 31?

Didn't want to put this in pregnancy really.

I have been terrified I'm pregnant, but we've been "safe". I've taken 4 tests; all -ve.

I looked up menopause on the NHS website & it looks like I'm displaying some symptoms. (My periods have been v heavy, and I;ve been getting inter-menstral bleeding.)

Is 31 too young? Will I need HRT?

I have no clue!!

Go and see your GP.

HappyCamel · 02/03/2012 10:35

Go and see your GP, it could be menopause or PCOS but there are couple of other nasties out there you should be checked for. Have you had unprotected sex though? For what it's worth I didn't get a positive test with dd until I was 17 days late, I guess I don't produce much HCG.

PineappleBed · 02/03/2012 10:37

See your GP. It could be something like stress, being under weight, random one month thing or something like the menopause or something else

UterusUterusGhali · 02/03/2012 10:48

I'm certainly not underweight!
I went to my GPs a couple of weeks ago as I was convinced I had hypothyroidism. Blush
I have been putting on A LOT of weight. (1kg per week.) despite doing more excersize & dieting. I've been doing The Shred ffs. Also tired etc. He's not got back to me. I know my Hb is fine.

With previous pregnancies, with the exception of the first, I've always "known" within a week. Only had a false neative with my ectopic pregnancy. No pain at the mo.

Bloods came back fine from the other week. GPs don't really give a toss though do they?

My GP would be sending me for a scan with those symptoms - I had them a few years ago and it was a small polyp in my uterus which was duly removed.

Go back and push for them to send you for further investigations.

Reenypip · 02/03/2012 21:38

Could be anything really, from stress to PCOS, or even weight gain /weight loss can effect your period.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 02/03/2012 21:40

Nah, relatively normal to start missing the odd period IMO (and threads on here seem to say the same thing)

If you don't get the next one, off to the GP with you.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 02/03/2012 21:41

Ah, read your other post. Yes - GP needed with those symptoms

UterusUterusGhali · 02/03/2012 23:16

Thank you people.

I'll try & get an appointment with one of the more caring GPs in our practice. One does get the feeling they couldn't give two hoots though. The last chap told me to stop skipping breakfast. (I get up at 5:30 & am often in an operating theatre by 8:00. I'm not sure where I'll find the time. Sad)
