An I damaging it by going to work and shout whispering at people? Dh says I should be staying off work and not using it at all but I feel fine other than my voice and feel like a bit of a fraud staying off

I lost my voice completely a couple of years ago, and did go into work as I mostly am just on the computer. I whispered or wrote notes when I needed to.

if you have to talk a lot, it might be better not to strain your vocal cords. My doctor was strict and she said not to talk at all if poss.

hope you get better soon Smile it took about a week to recover for me

My Mum swears by these - www.vocalzone.com/ - pastilles if you can find them. You kinda inhale the fumes....

Sympathy. I lost my voice, totally and completely, for at least four days - over half term. I had both girls, and a dog, to look after (dh was on a course) and had to shout-whisper, but I really wish I hadn't had to!

For what its worth, the cold part came after the voice started to come back, and my voice is still not normal now - 3 weeks later. I would rest yours if you can, I think your dh is right Smile

Thanks everyone. Went to work and couldn't avoid talking and now it feels really strained. Hopefully I'll get to rest it over the weekend (fat chance!!)
