Oh just great, I've got Glandular Fever....

Have been feeling rubbish for a few weeks, had a dodgy liver function test so they ran some more and told me last night that I have glandular fever (how teenaged of me). So 2 weeks off work for starters then another test to see if it's gone away.

Anyone had it and have any advice. Obv I can't just sit on the sofa all day with a 14 month old baby!

I think you may be right pie! How am I going to cope with all that chilling out? Heh heh

you lucky cow. looked into that for this year - in a katamaran so more room for the 3 children to run around - but haven't done anything about it. v v jealous....

CountessDracula · 20/11/2003 14:33

DONT DO IT!!
Cats are crap. Like being on a ferry IMO.

If you want to do the Grenadines, Island Dreams in Grenada are vg and much cheaper than the usual suspects. Mark is nicest skipper!

Oh, poor you! Take care of yourself.

Can I add chocolate to the list of known remedies?

fio2 · 20/11/2003 14:39

hope you get better soon cd I had an infection in my lymph nodes a few months back and it was vile, so many sympathies.......

princesspeahead · 20/11/2003 14:52

oh no, really?
can't possibly go on a monohull for the simple reason that my SIL crews one out there, and so we would have to go on hers, and I'd rather chew my own arm off than be stuck on a boat for a week or two with her!

CountessDracula · 20/11/2003 15:06

Well I grew up with monohulls, used to sail 3x a week from 7 to about 15 (or whenever boyfriends became more important than boats lol!), I can't stand sailing on a cat as you get no sensation of speed or movement, they lumber about like ferries IMO. If you are not big sailing fan prob doesn't matter but it is not the same experience at all.

Can't you just say your SIL's boat is inappropriate in some way?

BTW will obv not be in Chips this week now!

ah, you are clearly an expert. I don't know one end of a rope from the other so maybe I'd find a cat thrilling!

boo about chips. but one day you can tell me what on earth it is that you do that requires frequent trips to chippenham, not one of the worlds most exciting places...!

CountessDracula · 20/11/2003 15:35

My company has an office on the outskirts.

Yes you may well find cat fine in that casecc

Mate - that's dreadful. Shall I send you some videos / DVds from work?
Email with your address if you want and I'll send you a parcel. I can't promise they'll be brilliant but it'll passs some of the time.

Tasa · 20/11/2003 15:45

I was diagnosed with glandular fever at the start of last year and after three months of feeling pretty crap all the time I went to a homeopathic doctor and felt great the same night. I had to go twice in total, three weeks apart, have no idea what he gave me just that it worked. It cost me £90 but I'd really recommend it.- I didn't feel like drinking so knew I really wasn't well.

princesspeahead · 20/11/2003 15:47

countess if you want good homeo/naturopath i recommend apotheke 20/20 on chiswick high rd, not a million miles from you, they are all excellent there

Thanks all, will call the one in Chiswick and ask about remedies. TBH I think I'm over the worst of it already, didn't really feel that tired today. Also my liver function tests are now back to normal so can have wine hurrah! (but only one or two glasses)

Have decided to tackle long-neglected photo albums next week. Thomcat that's very kind of you re videos (sorry don't have a dvd player) (oh yes I do but only on laptop) I do have Sky so can watch the movie channels I guess, I'm not a huge tv fan, would rather read really or sort photos! If I change my mind I will certainly email you tho. xx

CD

Poor you . Hope you are feeling ok. I've just got tonsillitis and am feeling rough, finding it especially hard looking after the kids as dh has been away, but at least I know I should feel better soon. Can't imagine how I would feel not knowing when I would recover and having to look after a toddler.

Take care

FeverishFish · 15/04/2008 14:27

lol at dd being titchy

Miaou · 15/04/2008 14:29
