mesenteric andenitis?

the symptoms are similar to appendicitis. ds1 diagnosed a week ago and still no sign of it going. He seems to get it worse at night, no fever or vomiting just really bad stomach pains around the tummy button and really irritable.anyone had any experience of this?

Yes I had it (either this or it was a ovarian cyst that burst off - I'll never know.) I had no appendix so that cut down the options.

It was horrible, horrible. It definately came in waves and stopped me sleeping properly.

It took about 2 weeks to resolve, but was miles better the second week.

bobbybobbobbingalong - thanks for replying. another bad night (did you get it worse at nightime?), first doctor we saw said up to 5 days, phoned again last night and this one said up to 2 weeks. have never seen my ds1 in such a state and sooo grumpy with it. very scary! hoping my other 2 ds's don't catch it as the doctor implied with it being a virus it could be contagious.he said the body reacts to it by the glands swelling up to fight it (?) many of which are around the stomach - is this the info. you had?

All the rest of the family had a virus, but in their throats and chests. I was the only one who got it in the stomach.

Is he drinking lots? Is he taking nurofen or something to lessen the swelling?
