I had an itchy & spotty scalp, neck and top of back, with no lice to be found. Doctor couldn't find any either & just put it down to not drying long hair thoroughly, causing the reaction (DD & DS however had head lice at the time). It's just happened again a few months later, although this time I found 3 adult lice (no nits/eggs) in my hair after a week of manic itching! Why am I not finding as many lice as in DDs hair, as she has only just started itching today? Could I just have an allergic reaction to them causing them not to lay eggs? Surely that amount of irritation would be the result of a lot more lice? Angry Aghhh horrid things!!

Hair not drying properly won't cause a reaction.

It does sound like you could have lice, some are small and very hard to see.

failing that, It could be a reaction to whatever shampoo or conditioner that you use.

I had this ... it turned out to be nits.

Buy some lotion and treat yourself, then be a scrupulous comber.
