started feeling ill nearly 2 weeks ago. headache, coughing, hot and cold sweats, shivering etc.
got antibiotics from the doctor who thought it might be a chest infection.
Now, nearly 2 weeks later, the sweats are gone and the cough has calmed down alot but, i still have a headache, feel tired, occasional pains in legs and when i breathe in very deeply i make a wheezy croaky sound.

Do I just wait for this to go away? seem to have been moaning on about it for ages! Very rluctant to go to the doctors as they are crap and getting an appointment is not that easy.

also feel very miserable and moody

did the dr take a sample of your blood or phlegm for the lab? if not he may not have px the correct antibiotics for the infection. i assume he px you a broad spectrum ab, which the infection may not be sensitive to.

i would go back to the dr and ask him to listen to your chest, do you wheeze when inhaling or exhaling? or both?

can you check your temp at home?

it maybe a viral thing, like the flu, (i know, i know, all drs say this when they are not sure) hence the pains in legs etc, which in that case there is not really much you can do

hope you get better soon x

ps dont take my word im not a dr

does anyone know if the wheezy noise would mean an infections still there?

I never have any problem with my chest normally.

Can you breathe comfortably? Is there any pain when you breathe in deeply?
Another thing I have (I have asthma) which sounds really bizarre is that, when I'm having chest trouble/breathing problems I get very itchy under my chin.
A wheezy noise might well indicate an inflammation of some kind, yes. Isn't necessarily serious, but needs investigating.

festiveface · 27/01/2006 17:29
