I have an ulcer on my soft palate

Have had a general lurg for about a week (heavy head cold, sore throat, headache, unable to breathe, ears blocked yadda yadda). Today I could feel something at the back of my mouth when I swallow, and on examination in a mirror (not easy, btw) I can see that I have a largish ulcer on the roof of my mouth at the back on the soft palate. My throat is sore, but no more than it has been iyswim. Do you reckon I need to go and get antibiotics, or is it likely to just be a virus type thing? Never had the ulcer bit before, you see.

Hi, sorry you're not well.
I get ulcers all the time and no doctors seem to know why.. but what I do know is that they are caused often by tiredness or when you are run down so yours is probably just because of your cold. Antibiotics won't help the ulcer itself - they are only necessary if you have something like a throat infection - do you have a high temperature?
I'm afraid you'll probably just have to take paracetamol and wait this out.. sorry.
Back to the ulcer, you only need to worry if it last longer than 2 weeks I think.
Hope that helps.
