Blue lips & fingers have you seen it before???

Last night my DD, who has has a high temp since Sun pm, started shivering then her lips & fingers turned blue. I phoned NHS24 but by the time they phoned back she'd gone a normal colour & was asleep.
I'd been to the GP on Mon as her temp was 39.9c & was still high 1.5hrs after calpol & neurofen. I got the usual 'just a virus, normal for it to take 2+ hrs for calpol to work'
Advisor said it was prob temp related but I've never seen that before. Do I take her back to GP or just keep an eye. She seems perkier, 38.8c this morning but it's gone down quicker.
Would really like to know if this is quite common or something to worry more about.

My DS had this when he had very high temp due to a kidney infection. Apparently blue extremeties are quite common with high temperatures. It may be nothing, but it may be a sign of a serious infection. I'd go back if it was me.

Yes it's called cyanosis. Keep going back to the GP, and make sure she drinks. This is really important as she will sweat alot and need to keep her fluid up.

I had the same thing with my ds a few wks ago, took him right up to docs and he had an ear infection, they werent that bothered about the blueness! Scared the hell outa me thought, I read it can be a sign of a breathing problem , best get it checked out if your worried. Xx

She's been much better today so hopefully it was a one off. They do love to scare the life out of you don't they!
