I have not been feeling the very best for a long time. Mainly fatigue, insomnia, lethargy and everything that goes with that. Had bloods taken and they all show "normal". Anyone have any ideas? Have had reflexology and have been told there are imbalances in my liver and thyroid and so started taking all manner of supplements and multi V's, but still no affect after 4 weeks.

Am starting to panick now

I would go back to doctor and ask them about liver and thyroid problems thes should show up if they do the right tests surely.

I was going to say that sounds like motherhood at the best of times .

was told that the thyroid goes in graphs and if you fit into the acceptable graph then they say nothing and that it has to be totally off before they query it. But don't know if that is fact or not?

could be right on the motherhood thing, i am just so drained the whole time which is why i went on all the suplements

Don't know if that is fact, they might have thought it was at an acceptable level but it might be enough to make you feel bad. Do you have any onther problems that could be affecting you like stress?

Emerdale · 26/01/2006 00:13

Supose there is that too but thought I would have been feeling so much better by now

Carefull what supplements you are taking, a ggod multi vitamin or one of the fizzy ones should be enough unless there is a problem. I was taking StJohns wort and found that it gave me headaches and i think made the insomnia worse. I take evening primrose and it helps to even out the mood swings a bit .

Perhaps a bit of TLC and some me time might help you more even a girls night out if this is something you don't get a chance to do this, plus packing in MN will help with the insomnia .

What ever it is I would still go back to GP and ask for more info.

Just a thought, but those are also symptoms of depression...not necessarily the full blown 'clinical depression' sort, but any kind of feeling low for long periods of time, or delayed grief that comes from loss or major change. Motherhood being one possible cause, of course
Though of course its only sensible to do all the blood tests and try supplements etc - wanted to add that in. My DH once went through a zillion tests before discovering he was suffering from depression and SAD.

I have also been to my doctor because I felt the same as you.

He basically blamed it on the stresses of motherhood, which annoyed me really as I feel like shit all the time, not just a bit knackered iyswim.

However I am going thru quite a stressful time at the moment (didn't mention this to doc) so I am putting it down to that. I also had blood tests done.

About the thyroid thing, thats what he first suspected and I have read up on it and lots of doctors apparantly mis diagnose, I would suggest reading up on it if you google it you get tons of info.
