SMelly breath is sometimes an indicator of cattarh. Could be from a cold or could be overproduciton of mucus due to teething

How long is a piece of string??! sorry but pain isn't always an indicator that they are about to cut a tooth, although at eight month it is quite likely. My dentist told me that they get pain as the tooth travels through the gums as well.
Brufen is good for tooth pain if sutable for your child, if not calgel and calpol at the ready etc etc...
Hope you get a decent nights sleep soon

Teething does not necessarily mean there needs to be any pain. None of my 4 children had any problems teething. Teeth just appeared.

Always be careful not to attribute an illness to teething. I rememer a paediatician saying the only thing a child should get when teething is teeth!
