It started this morning about 10am, was just a small ache in my left shoulder and i was aware that it was more painful when i breathed in

For the last hour its got more painful and spread to bottom of my neck and near joint of my shoulder and when i breath in i have to stop i cant take a full deep breath

I have just taken some ibuprofen and going to have a bath and then will see how it is

Any ideas what it could be? should I be worried, a couple of friends have said that I should ring NHS direct as could be heart or lung problems??

Could you be pregnant? You're friend is right, you could get all sorts of quacks answering, whether qualified or not.

I think you need to call the GP or NHS direct this evening. It may be nothing but could be a symptom of something more serious that could be treated more easily if not left too long.

the bath and ibuprofen seems to have helped, gonna keep an eye on it when the tablets wear off, thanks for the replies

Ask for an ultrascan for gallstones...I have these and your symtoms are very similar to mine. Hth :)
