how big is it? if its bigger than a 10p piece then take her to a and e. wrap it in clingfilm.

BudaBabe · 25/01/2006 15:03

Lavender oil is good.

The cold water is the best thing.

Poor DD and poor you.

You can get a special burns dressing from your chemist--supposed to be very good ....

heavenis · 25/01/2006 15:06

If you haven't got cling film put hand in a plastic food bag.

Piffle · 25/01/2006 15:06

aloe vera straight on it

Loobie · 25/01/2006 15:09

Sorry but current advise is to keep the burn under cold water as long as she will stand,DO NOT put anything on the burn and yes if it is bigger than a ten pence piece then seek medical advice form a & e,docs,or nhs24.

serenity · 25/01/2006 15:09

It's about the size of a penny with a little tendril following the crease in her hand - our water is really cold, and I held her hand in it until it was hurting me and it looks smaller than when i was first looking at it. Should I leave it open or cover it? She's using her hand and seemd ok, just says occasionally mummy, hot mummy, hurts and shows me her hand (very absorbed with playing with Bob the B atm)

OK leave it uncovered.

thanks everyone, feel like a shit mother - left the iron where I didn't think she could reach whilst I ran to get something in another room. How crap do you get.

DONT put anything like lotion on it, only water. you can put a non adhesive dressing, or a clean cloth or cling film on it, to keep it clean. dont burst any blisters. if its bigger than a postage stamp get it seen to

Yeah, sorry, I meant the dressing for later, helps prevent scarring ...
