I had a laparoscopy, dye test and hysteroscopy 3 weeks ago, and have been taking it easy since then. I am very prone to putting on weight very easily, and what with me being immobile and comfort eating, I have put on LOTS of weight which is making me feel uncomfortable and miserable. I saw my GP just over a week ago and asked him about returning to my exercises - he advised against it. He said I wouldn't do any damage, but would cause unneccessary pain to myself, so I said I would leave it. I am wondering whether it would now be advisable to re-start my exercise routine (for a shorter time to begin with). I no longer have any pain and am able to bend, stretch and do most things. I cannot get to see my Dr for another 10 days to ask him, by then things will be worse! Please can anyone advise me, I have scoured the websites but haven't found a definate answer. I can't go on like this, it isn't good for my physical or mental health.

I had a laparoscopy to remove a large ovarian cyst in mid December and was advised not to return to my usual high impact exercise regime for 4 weeks but that I could start swimming after 10 days. By 3 weeks after the op I was feeling like I could probably return to my usual classes but do low impact options. By this time it was Christmas so I didn't end up going back to the gym til 4 weeks after the op and it was absolutely fine. I'd say you could definitely start exercising again but maybe take it a bit easier than you would normally, to see how you go. I know how you feel - one of the things that worried me before the op was not being able to do my usual classes
