I have been referred to the breast clinic

I went to see the Gp today, re the dent/dip in my breast.

She took my history, visual examination and physical examination.

She said my breasts both feel lumpy. She concentrated on the area near the dent and felt something. She said it felt like the other side and that the area is lumpy. There wasn't one discernible lump that jumped out at her. The lumpy bit didn't feel different to the other.

She checked my neck, along my collar bones, into my armpit's - that was all normal.

She said I had 2 options. To have another examination in 2 weeks as I wouldn't be on my period then and we could see if the lumpiness was still there, or she could refer me to the breast clinic. She said she thought we could afford to wait.

I chose the referral.

I feel sick.

I think you might find some reassurance/hand holding on the tamoxifen thread- please nip over..

(sorry- that was a bit abrupt only I have to go out and wanted to offer some comfort)x

Well done you for going. May I just say that I have had many lumps and referrals and all has been fine. All my lumps were cysts and were aspirated. Also have had biopsies on one or two lumps and they were fine. You have taken the right action and I wish you a calm time .

Thank you all for your replies and reassurance.

I'm thinking the worst, I really am. I think I'm more concerned because the dr said that the lumpiness is in the area of the dent.

I will go over to the tamoxifen thread and have a chat with the ladies there.

Thanks again

Quick update - decided to see someone privately, had a consultation today, a physical exam which showed nothing of concern, and an ultrasound which showed fatty tissue. Breast was the same all over.

Thanks for responding Grin
