period pain after hysterectomy?

Hi, I had a hysterectomy in nov 2011 along with pelvic floor repair and as they left my ovaries,I expect I'm still ovulation and having a cycle minus the bleeding. What I don't get is how I can still get mild period pain? I'm sure I would be due on at the moment cos my boobs really hurt and I just screamed at ds(aged 16) as he left for school, and I feel bloated too.
I've been having some bowel/stomach issues lately but this doesn't seem related.
They did say I had some adhesions which made removing my womb more difficult but they didn't say what it was stuck to.
Surely they would have said if I had major endometriosis after the op? I can't think of anything else which could cause the low down belly ache/pelvic pain which started sat night and feels just like it used to but milder.

Sorry so long, any ideas?Thanks.

So you are just 2 months post op? You are still healing inside and that can take months and months. I am a year post op and still get crampy style period pains every so often - I used to get the sore boobs but that settled after a couple of months, presumably once my hormones settled down.
It took me a good six months for my body to feel anything near to normal. Your body has gone under massive stress, your insides need to settle and your hormones need to get back on track.

so not anything to worry about then? thanks Lily,I don't need any more problems!Grin

14k I could've written your Post today. I've had really painful period type pains over the last few days as well as sore breasts.

I agree with Lily in that although I was surprised, it seems to be quite 'normal' and it will take a few months to settle/heal.

If you're really concerned, I can only suggest you speak to your GP or the Hospital and get advice.

hi squashed, how long post op are you? we seem to be suffering together.Did you scream at your ds too?

I'm glad I have another check at the hospital on 5th April(as I had a haemotoma sp?) so I can ask then.
