ds2 has come back from an indoor skate/bmx bike park with dh and they tell me he has fallen off and banged his head.
He did have a helmet on and this happened a few hours ago but ds2 says his head hurts again now like a headache.
i am ill myself and a bit concerned for my own health...please don't let us end up having to go to a & E.
do i just worry if he's sick?

Think you should get it checked out - sorry. Concussion could be a possibility - ring NHS direct for some advice?

Just found this info for you...

Signs and symptoms
The signs and symptoms of a concussion include severe headache, dizziness, vomiting, increased size of one pupil or sudden weakness in an arm or leg. The person may seem restless, aggitated or irritable. Often, the person may have memory loss or seem forgetful. These symptoms may last for several hours to weeks, depending on the seriousness of the injury. Any period of loss of consciousness or amnesia of the head injury should be evaluated by a health-care professional. As the brain tissue swells, the person may feel increasingly drowsy or confused. If the person is difficult to awaken or passes out, medical attention should be sought immediately. This could be a sign of a more severe injury.

thanx willow.
apparently dh didn't see him do it. He said he had managed to pick his bike up though and come over to him and that after 10 minutes or so was back riding around again.

bit worried about him going to bed now, guess i should keep waking him to check??

OP posts:

itys not nessesary to wake him. He will have asore head, calpol and brufen (te reduce swelling) if he can take it. do check him, tickle his feet and I'm sure he will kick you off!! It is normal for a wee one to be tiered after a head inj, but it is not always a cuase for concern, If he starts vommiting, seems off colour, has probs with his vision you should take him to get checked out. otherwise relax and keep a wee eye on him.
phone nhs direct if your worried about any symptoms but I hope he and ou feel better soon
x
