10 month old really struggling with poo's

I'm hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this horrible issue for my little girl. Around 2 months ago she started having issues with her poo's, long after she'd begun weaning so I didn't suspect an allergy.

Her issue is that whilst she goes every day, every poo is hugely uncomfortable for her and usually is the result if two or three bouts of straining earlier in the day with red face, tensed body etc.

She is a good eater and drinks a lot of water and orange juice with all her meals. The health visitor has prescribed lactulose and despite almost three weeks of taking it twice a day basically no change.

It seems odd that she is straining so hard yet going so regularly. No blood but substantial sized stools every time. (Sorry for the detail).

It's so awful for her and v upsetting to see her in such distress. Does anyone have similar experience or any advice? Could it be allergy?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, I have 3 dc and my eldest had terrible problems with constipation up to about 3 or so. Lactulose and drinking more and juice etc never made much difference. He also ate a hight propprtion of fruit and veg. In the end he was prescribed movicol (i think that was the name, but can't remember how old he was) and that did the trick.
Neither of my other dc have had same problem and I now think some kids just tend towards this whatever they eat or drink.
