Mt Dad had ulcerative colitis three times in his life and Ibelieve it nearly killed him. He died 18mths ago of stomach cancer. I believe there is a link.

Hi Lacrimosa!

I have Crohn's disease. I have been disgnosed for about 4 and a half years but have been suffering since I was about 15 years old (16 years). I am happy for you to contact me. donnatraviss at hotmail dot com

I am happy to tell you everything, however gorey!

PS, J&Rmummy - how are you? I will email you

Lacrimosa · 20/01/2006 19:52

You are right I'm so sorry to hear about your loss also. I think my brothers future will be very simmilar. There has been a few studies trying to link it with cancer the only solid proof at the moment is that both these conditions weaken the digestive system and are more seseptable(sp) to cancers. Did he also have Chron's? I only ask as I believe that there is a stronger link between these two conditions.

Not that I am aware of, Lacrimosa. I was only told I had Crohn's after having a colonoscopy. I haven't had any further investigations as I have since had a baby, and have been well, touch wood.

Lacrimosa · 20/01/2006 20:05

As far as I know he did not have Crohns. He was a real worrier and a really really hard worker which I think must have been connected. My uncle also died of stomach cancer and my other uncle is dieing of pancreatic cancer. All of them were real hard workers.

The thing that gets me is that their parents lived longer than their kid even though my grandad was born in about 1875. I'm sure lifestyle has a lot to do with it.
