Urgent advice please - tia and high blood pressure.

My mum had what we think was a tia/migrane the other day. I made her go to the doctors who took blood and suggested tia. He has referred her to the stroke clinic on Monday morning.

Trouble is, I got her to take her blood pressure just now (she's been using my dad's monitor recently and taking per blood pressure cos of the rimipril she's been prescribed sending it all over the place) and it came out at 170/120.

Her doctor took her blood pressure when she saw him and said it was a bit high (didn't say what) but that's cos she had gone to the doctors about a possible stroke. That's a really high reading for her though isn't it? She's not had one above 135/90 at home before.

What to do?

I would call NHS Direct right now - even if it's just to be on the safe side. That BP is high.

I'm not a doctor.

She's just done it again and it's 133/77 and 10 minutes ago it was 100/70. That's better. I'll stop panicking for a bit!

Much better! I'd keep up with regular readings. At least she's booked in for Monday. Not long now.

Thanks for the hand hold Conflu.
