I'm 41 this year, definitely not pregnant, but feeling slightly sick a lot of the time and can smell everything really vividly and strongly, just like when I was pregnant
Is this indicative of something ? Or is it just hormonal !
Any ideas ??

Do you suffer from migraines are you on any new medication?

LackaDAISYcal · 24/01/2012 13:18

I had this last week, just before my period, so maybe hormonal. I was running to the poo a lot as well which made me worry slightly. DH has had the snip, but I've seen Eastenders!
I'm nearly 43 and am perimenopausal given lots of other symptoms so hormonal would fit.

minceorotherwise · 24/01/2012 13:18

No, only thing different is that I am doing Dukan diet so being strict with food, and I have given up smoking

Woukd giving up smoking help clear your airways and allow you to breathe better/smell everything better?

redridingwolf · 24/01/2012 13:20

Prob the giving up smoking. Smoking destroys your sense of smell but apparently it returns when you stop. You are probably just not used to smelling stuff, and your brain is over-reacting and magnifying it all. If that's it, it'll settle down again when your brain gets used to all the extra input!

Hassled · 24/01/2012 13:20

Definitely not pregnant as in you haven't had sex, do you mean? Is it completely impossible that you are?

But the giving up smoking probably has improved your sense of smell - it may be that the smell sense is actually "normal" but that you're not used to it.

susiedaisy · 24/01/2012 13:21

Ah your on a special diet and have given up the fags that's two biggys so that will
Prob explain the symptoms, good luck op x

juneau · 24/01/2012 13:22

If you've given up smoking it could be that as senses get dulled by smoke.

RockinD · 24/01/2012 13:25

Been there, done that, it's horrible. You realise how bad your friends smell, especially those who are still smoking. It's the fags and it will pass.

I've done the dukan I would definitely put it down to that.

Are you drinking enough?

Mabelface · 24/01/2012 14:07

Definitely quitting smoking. Smells were really strong to me for the first few weeks. It does calm down.

It's quitting smoking, it's all the oxygen retruning to your cells making you a bit dizzy and hence nauseous, very common side effect. It goes eventually
