saw dd1 consultant today. he is happy with her skin, said that as her arms are very smooth and soft (apart from a few stubborn patches) that it is very likely she will outgrown her eczema in a few years. she doesnt have much atopic eczema, its another form that i cant remember the name of. he is very happy she is being allergy tested soon, tho he still belives that they should test for absolutly everything and not just the comman allergens. he doesnt think she needs wet wraps, tho has recommended tunifast to put on her legs at night (dry) at night under her pj's. she has another appointment in 6 months, tho if she does get worse he says to contact my gp before a friday morning and he will be able to see her on a friday afternoon. so some good news at least.

Misdee that is so fantastic. Feel for your dd1, have had mild eczema for ever, that's bad enough, can't imagine how bad it must be if you have it badly. ((((())))))))

Fantastic news misdee. My dd2 had bad eczema as a baby/toddler, but has now almost outgrown it at 6. She still gets very dry skin, but we manage to keep everything under control with diprobase, and I can't even remember last time we had to use any other creams. It will make such a difference to both of you.

she has 3 creams to use now as well as her usual lot. we have now added canestan HC (for cracked ears), efcotalan and euricin 10% (i think) for after swimming. she came up with aa small patch of ezcema on her face yesterday, first time for ages, but the redness has gone down today so thats all good.

Fingers crossed for your daughter. It's great news. You must feel like a huge weight has been lifted off your shoulders. The first time I saw ds eczema-free, I cried. Most Mums take lovely soft baby skin for granted but unfortunately many of us havent had that luxury. Keep us up-to-date.

Suffering with eczema this time of year especially why not get a free sample pack from Elena Schalburg? Email:[email protected] and mention Mumsnet!

WSM · 20/11/2003 09:46

Does that constitute an advert ?

Glad to hear things are looking up for DD misdee

aye it greats, this week she has been more itchy tho, and dd2 has started to look like she might have ezcema too. she had bouts of it when she was tiny, but this week, her back and tummy have gone scaley, and she has a few patched behinds her knees and elbows.
