Finished reading Allen Carr last night and havent touched an evil filthy ciggy all day.... no cravings nothing.

This is not bad considering i was on EASILY 20 fags a day! Yes I feel a little something is missing, but it isnt really. I just have more time to spend with my girls and be anle to run after Jess without feeling like im dying.

DH hasnt been great in the old praise department, so im here looknig for well dones from a bunch of strangers!!!

Love you all!!!

Wow, well done well done well done! Thats no mean feat, congratulations. And here's something to look forward to - I remember dreaming in vivid colour for weeks after quitting my 20 per day habit: more oxygen to the brain. Enjoy!

Gillian76 · 17/01/2006 22:00

Hey well done!

Never pictured you as a smoker either. Keep up the good work

Aloha · 17/01/2006 22:00

Well done!

But seriously, well done. Go on girl, you can do it.

Posey · 17/01/2006 22:01

Hey well done you! Did you use my book? Feel free to pass it, see how many people it can "cure"
Do you know when I stopped, I knew it was permanent, just felt completely different about fags.
For those that miss the bit of "me time" and a break from the kids in the garden with their coffee, still do it. I used to take my coffee onto the balcony and drink it in a bit of peace, just without the fag.

Keep it up, girl. Well done!

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 18/01/2006 08:46

Posey - was hoping you would pop in! YES! It was your book! DH is reading it now funnily enough... i know it supposed to be for women but hey we will see!

I may pass it on to a smoking pg friend if thats ok but will get it back to you asap x

Good going xxx

lovecloud · 18/01/2006 12:51

WELL DONE - KEEP GOING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE CRAVINGS WILL PASS, I WAS RIGHT "FAG ASH LIL" AND I HAVE BEEN FAG FREE FOR YEARS.

YOU CAN DO IT!

MrsMills · 18/01/2006 12:54

And remember, the day will come when you do stop thinking about them all the time.

Plus, think of the smell, all smokers smell horrid, you cannot disguise it no matter how 'clean' you think you are.

YOU ARE A NON SMOKER!!!!

(I've been there and come out the other side)

coppertop · 18/01/2006 13:01

Well done!

AggiePanther · 18/01/2006 13:06

well done! I gave up with Allen carr too...best thing I ever did...I'd keep the book close by for a while if I were you..it's really helpful just to keep reminding yourself. The two phrases that always helped me were "there's no such thing as just one cigarette" and "the nicotine monster will get bigger if you feed it not smaller" (I used to imagine it as a horrible fat maggot in my throat...yeuch!) ..oh and another one(and I'm not sure if this is allen carr or not)"I'd rather be a non-smoker with an occasional desire to smoke than a smoker with a constant desire to stop"
Good luck and keep at it ...it's really really worth it

Lulu41 · 18/01/2006 13:07

Well done you it took me about 3 months after completing the book to actually stop - got up one morning and didnt want one and havent had one since that was at leat 5 years ago - big well done to you x

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 18/01/2006 13:09

Thanks girls.

All i am saying is WHATS THE POINT? I REFUSE to spend £50,000 over a lifetime for something to kill me! Why should i allow DEVASTATION (nicotine) to take over my life? I feel better already, for the first time in 6 months, I have done my hair, applied cleanser, toner and moisturiser to my face and even a bit of lippy.... together with Jeans, boots and a jumper i felt FANTASTIC at toddler group this morning!

well done u hon, u know I was watchin the bank of mum and dad and with 2 smokers in the house it's £111K in a life time u are in effect burning - so think about what u could get for that instead!

so pleased u're feeling a lot better as well. will DH try to stop?

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 18/01/2006 13:14

Dh has done FANTASTIC too - only 2 ciggies yesterday while i was asleep, and not a single one so far today - I am so proud of him - i honestly thought he would take it a lot worse, but he is taking it in his stride and doing really well!

We are a NON-SMOKING family now, and hope to god it stays that way.

I really don't want the book back, so please pass it on to anyone who wants it.
Hope you dh is doing okay too!

Squirrel3 · 18/01/2006 13:24

Well done! Keep it up, you can both do it, I was a smoker for 20 years and I kicked the habit, if I can do it you can too!

Don't you just hate the smell of them now?
