I have booked an appointment with gp, but this is not until monday. But meanwhile, I think I will go mad!

Suddenly this morning I started hearing like a "beep" now and then, as from a key tapped on the mobile, thinking the keylock was not on, I checked my phone, and nothing. I kept hearing the noise on the schoolrun, and was wondering what was going on with my phone.

Well, it is not my phone, it is my actual hearing. With every word I hear somebody speak, including myself, I hear a "beep". It also sounds like there is "wind" in my ear. If I hold my other ear, so as to only hear from "the bad ear", I can clearly hear a difference. It sounds like people talk inside cotton wool.

What is going on??? Sad

I get noises in my ear sometimes when I have a cold.

Could it be tinnitus? www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Tinnitus/Pages/Symptoms.aspx

Oh thanks, Tinnitus is probably what it is. I have been super stressed and really busy in work (and coming here too much to block out work related stresses) and I think everything just got to me yesterday. It is better today.

I get this when I get stressed - and it's then usually a good indication of an impending cold from hell complete with outbreak of about 20 cold sores.

It won't stop the noises, but I'd ensure your vitamin levels are topped up - seems to make the attacks less severe for me.
